Lilly stood before the fireplace in Chomp’s living room, warming her hands. She waited as the others entered the room. They had gone a good two weeks gathering intel and coming up with a plan on how to fight against the Military Merchants.

“All packed up and ready to go?” Josh asked her as he sat on one of the couches.

She turned to him and frowned, “Of course. Are you?”

“Uh…yeah. Though I wasn’t sure you wanted me to go,” he replied sheepishly.

“Duh…why wouldn’t I want you to go?” she sneered.

“Well, seemed to me that you didn’t like me suddenly. I’m sorry if I did something to upset you,” he offered.

“I’m not mad at you. I just have a lot going on. Besides, you are part of the team, so you have to be here.” Her tone warned him not to pursue the subject any further.

“I sent the drone out this morning. We should have contact with the others in a day or two. I entered the coordinates into its system so it should find them without any issue. I also equipped it with a defense mechanism so no one can tamper with it,” he shared, hoping the change of subject would lighten her mood.

“Good. The more we have on our side the better,” Lilly sighed. She turned back to stare at the fire.

Chomp and Patricia entered the room together in a warm embrace. They sat on the opposite couch still nestled into each other’s arms. Josh frowned when he saw them embracing. Lilly turned to them and smiled.

“Hey guys,” she greeted.

“Hi sugar,” Patricia smiled. “You better take good care of my husband.”

“You know I will,” Lilly said with all seriousness.

Patricia was not happy with Chomp going with them. Lilly understood. She knew that Patricia don’t want to lose her husband and father of her child. Still, Chomp had insisted, stating that he needed to find out what happened to his scouts. After much argument, Patricia finally relented, and they were able to work things out. Lilly was happy to see that they had made up. Just then Chomp pulled Patricia in for a kiss. Lilly instinctively looked to Josh who happened to look at her at the same time. She wanted to run over to him and kiss him but forced herself to turn away instead.

Ben and Carl came into the room then, hand in hand. Lilly once again turned to them and smiled. They did make an adorable couple. Josh let out an exasperated moan as he jumped up off the couch and stormed out. Lilly watched him leave with sad eyes. Ben and Carl took Josh’s spot on the couch as they watched him leave.

“What’s wrong with him?” Ben asked.

“I…don’t know,” Lilly stammered. “Are you two ready?”

“As ready as we can be. Though I do admit that we really like it here,” Ben said happily.

“Aww… well maybe you can become a part of the clan when we come back,” Lilly offered.

“I’d be honored,” Ben smiled. “What about you, Carl?”

Carl shook his head as he took in Ben’s enthusiasm.
